New Paper on Sparsity | Numenta News – March 2019

We recently released a new paper about the benefits of using highly sparse representations. Our co-founder Jeff Hawkins and VP of Research Subutai Ahmad gave a talk at Microsoft Research about applying the Thousand Brains Theory of Intelligence to practical machine learning systems. This month, Subutai also presented a poster at COSYNE 2019 with MIT professor Carmen Varela. Two of our researchers, Mirko Klukas and Marcus Lewis, released a new paper on grid cells in collaboration with Ila Fiete of the Department of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at MIT.

New Peer-Reviewed Paper | Numenta News – January 2019

Our latest paper on the Thousand Brains Theory of Intelligence was published this month in the journal Frontiers in Neural Circuits. The preprint version of this paper, which we shared in October 2018, was one of the most downloaded papers of bioRxiv in 2018. Jeff Hawkins and Christy Maver wrote a blog on the key insights of the paper and its implications for AI. The new paper was also highlighted in Quanta Magazine this month.

Jeff Hawkins Presents New Research | Numenta News – September 2018

Numenta co-founder Jeff Hawkins will present new research at two upcoming events: the Human Brain Project Summit Open Day in Maastricht, Netherlands and the Johns Hopkins University APL Colloquium in Baltimore, Maryland. These presentations mark the first public presentations of Numenta’s framework for understanding how the neocortex works. The framework ties together major new pieces of our work, and suggests a new way of thinking about intelligence.
